What's The Best Platform for Video Content Marketing?

What’s the best platform to use for video content marketing to build video SEO?

YouTube statistically is the best for video SEO because it’s owned by Google so you’ll be able to more easily get your videos to show up in Google as well as YouTube.

YouTube is also the second biggest search engine in the world. Whether it’s the best platform for your type of content is another question.

So what type of content might not be the best fit for YouTube?

Anything political, financial, or medical will run the highest risks in facing some level of censorship on YouTube but lets explore this further.

1.Medical or health education.

YouTube only wants to promote channels that are from “trusted” sources like hospitals, the CDC, and large medical organizations. YouTube has become involved in the world of deciding what is and what is not misinformation.

However, what they deem as misinformation, often ends up being true or at least plausible months later. Misinformation monitoring and censoring is an enemy to free speech.

Who cares if someone shares something that isn’t true? It’s the personal responsibility of the viewer to do their own homework and not just blindly trust what someone is saying online. And these companies have no idea how to actually verify what is true anyways because they only get their information from limited politicized sources.

So if you’re in the alternative health world, the chances of your content being suppressed on YouTube will be greater, and sometimes it will even get banned. Despite that, you should still post your videos on YouTube and give it a chance, but I recommend also posting everything to Rumble.com where it won’t get suppressed.

2. Cryptocurrency.

Crypto used to be banned from being boosted with YouTube ads entirely, but now it's allowed in certain circumstances. I manage a few Crypto channels, and they are growing, but they do face some level of scrutiny from YouTube.

Stock trading advice and other investing tips will also face more scrutiny, but financial advice doesn’t tend to get as suppressed as medical or political topics.

3. Content from the political right.

If you’re a conservative, your content will be more suppressed on YouTube. That’s a fact.

The stats don’t lie on the number of conservative channels that have been suppressed and sometimes kicked off entirely compared to the number of liberal channels who have made the same offenses, yet remain on the platform.

Of course they aren’t flat out banning conservative content on a mass level, but they are shadow banning it. And no, this isn’t good news for liberals. The moment the agenda changes, you could be silenced too. If free speech is only allowed to certain political groups, everyone is in trouble.

4. Prank channels or channels showing people doing dangerous things.

These will face more scrutiny because YouTube doesn’t want creators encouraging people to do things that could kill them, so be careful!

5. News channels that have angles that go against mainstream narratives from major media outlets like ABC, NBC, CNN.

YouTube has been bought out by mainstream TV because most of their funding comes from the mainstream news companies. That gives them incentive to promote mainstream news and suppress other smaller news sources.

So what are alternative platforms for creators that have content in the categories that are a higher risk for suppression on YouTube?

Rumble is by the far the fastest growing alternative. Many YouTube competitors died or struggled for a long time, but with an unprecedented amount of creators being censored and banned from YouTube recently, big-time influencers have taken their business elsewhere and Rumble massively benefited.

For a while their tech was retro, and it was hard to find videos but they have actually gone public now and have over 30 million users, up from 1 million a year prior. Right now unfortunately most of the content is political or medical because that’s the primary content that is struggling on YouTube, but overtime it will become a strong SEO platform because they value free speech much more than YouTube does.

Rumble wants liberals and conservatives alike creating content on their platform. They will censor some directly harmful content like pornography or people promoting violence but they will not censor information. They will not decide what is misinformation and what isn’t like what YouTube is doing.

Vimeo and Wistia are other video hosting sites, but they’re not the best place to build an audience. I do like Wistia for hosting videos on your website.

I know many people are concerned about alternative platforms because they worry they won’t be able to get ranked on Google with SEO.

However, Google is also losing ground because of its aggressive suppression of information, so many people have started using alternative search engines like Duck Duck Go and Brave Browser.

Unfortunately, Duck Duck Go has recently joined the “suppression of what they deem as misinformation” bandwagon, but Brave is a service that I do recommend.

Google will lose its’ dominant status on the internet in the next few years because of their missteps in canceling people out

Plus, if videos are ranking in Google, they will also likely rank in places like Brave. And if your content is political or medical, you’ll actually get better SEO on Brave and all the same principles apply.

You’re still doing keyword research and assuming that Google SEO data will be pretty similar to other search engines. You’re still producing as much content as you can on particular topics if you want to rank for them, using blog posts and videos.

For now, Brave and Duck Duck Go are still surfacing mainly YouTube videos rather than other platforms because there are so many videos on YouTube and way more users there. But as content on YouTube becomes less relevant because they’re banning everything that is relevant, videos from Rumble and other platforms will start to show up in search engines.

Things will change, it’s just a matter of when.

So be forward thinking and don’t get stuck on believing that Google will always be the one in charge, because it won’t. They are already losing their dominance and they’re going to keep fading since they plan to continue their anti-free speech policies.

And finally, don’t forget your website. Your website is a powerful platform for video content marketing. All of your videos should be embedded into blog posts on your website as well because chances are your website will show up in search engines before your videos do on YouTube if your content is in their borderline category.
